This Lenten Season, the performing arts group of Dubai locale, the Selah Theatrical Arts, once again relived onstage the power of Christ’s death on the cross and His glorious resurrection through its Senakulo 2012. Since its first presentation in 2009, this passion play has consistently drawn an impressive number of audiences each year with its latest record of 1,515 of viewers, double from previous year’s attendance. Majority of the viewers were students and parents, and teachers from the New Filipino Private School.
This time, the five-scheduled play date of Senakulo 2012 offered the viewers a more intense and dramatic re-enactment of Christ’s life on earth; from His birth to Mary, to His crucifixion and death, until His resurrection. Apart from the remarkable performances of the casts, the lights and sounds, the choreography and even the song numbers all added up to the play’s impact and emotional effect, leaving most audience in awe, and some even crying.
The audience even views the whole production as a craft of a professional directing. Filipino and foreign spectators also testify that the play could be at level with world-class theatrical acts. Many were also blessed and felt the unconditional love of Christ, most especially upon them hearing the Word of God imparted by Pastor Aldrin Palanca.
At the latter part of each play, scores of individuals respond to the altar call. A total of 27 souls submitted to baptism.
